GOODALL, Ronald C.A.
West Branch
Ronald Charles Arthur Goodall passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2023 at the age of 93. Ron was born May 31, 1930 in Fairview, Halifax, NS and came to live and start a family in Pictou County in 1948. Ronald was predeceased by his parents, Thelma (Rankin) & Everett Goodall; sister, Betty (Goodall) Hamilton; brother, Walter Gordon Goodall (in infancy); and son, Walter (Debbie) Goodall. Ronald is survived by his chosen sister, Marilyn (Johnson, Blackburn) Martin; children, George (Monica) Goodall, Leroy (Lori) Goodall, Daniel (Marjorie) Goodall, Everett Goodall, Douglas (Darlene) Goodall, Cathy (Walter) Fanning, Gladys (Craig) Fraser, as well as 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Ronald was a longstanding member of the New Caledonia #11 Masonic Lodge, Branch #16 Legion, Truro Horseman’s Club, West Branch Community Hall, Standard Bred Canada and US Trotting Association. He was an active member in his community and would step up to advocate for services when he thought it was needed. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, harness racing, boxing, hockey, softball/baseball, and yard sales/antiques. More than anything, he loved receiving visits from friends and family and he took great joy in sharing a cup of kindness, telling stories, and having a good game of crib. In his younger years, he worked in logging, construction, excavation, and fishing/farming. Ron’s family would like to send a special thank you to the VON nursing staff, staff at Fulton’s Pharmacy, Dr. Bush & staff at the Lillian Fraser Hospital and homecare workers Tanya and Holly, who were there for him in his time of need, as well as other homecare workers in the past. The family would also like to thank Ron’s close friends, Claudia Burns and Camilla (Finley) Wells, who visited him in his final hours. A Masonic Service will occur at McLaren Funeral Home, prior to a celebration of life, to be held on Sunday, September 17th, 1:00 – 3:30 PM, at the Pictou Legion. Ron’s family will be at the Celebration of Life to welcome friends and relatives throughout the afternoon and committal will occur at the Scotch Hill Cemetery, at 4:00 PM for anyone who would like to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The West Branch Hall, Salvation Army (Home Heating Program), or Shriners. May Ron’s soul be at peace!
