DALEY, James Robert ‘Beans’ - 80 Passed away March 7, 2022, peacefully with his children by his side. James/Jimmie was born on August 10, 1941, in Pictou N.S. He was the 5th of seven children born to John and Libby Daley. Jimmie spent most of his working career as a Pipefitter at the Shipyard before stepping into the role of maintenance at the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital before retirement. He was an avid collector of Military Memorabilia and expanded his collecting into multiple other fields. Jimmie's first love was his family that stretched well beyond any bloodline. In his younger years, Jimmie was an exceptional hockey player and loved the game until his final day. As he began his family and his children took up the sport, Jimmie remained a part of the game as Hockey Coach and for a period of time the President of Minor Hockey Association. After many years away from actually playing he laced up the skates again as an original Old Pucker. Jimmie could often be found at his spot in the New Glasgow Walmart as their unofficial Greeter, offering hugs, kisses, handshake, and maybe a story or two. Jimmie is survived by his partner, Marg Jessome; children, Johnny, Springhill; Ellen (Keith), Moncton N.B.; James (Jayne), Thorburn; Peter (Linda), Shane (Shirley), both of Pictou; and Wendy of Mount William; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Stewart (Rosie), Pictou; brother-in-law, Harvey (Debbie) Lyons, Mary (Joe), Pictou, and Hester, Oromocto, N.B. Honouring Jimmie's wishes there will be no visitation or service. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 12th at the Pictou Legion from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Cremation has taken place and burial will take place at a later date in the Birch Hill Cemetery, Rockland. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
