Lesley was my first music teacher and mentor. I can recall so many moments where Lesley inspired me to keep working harder, but to always find my passion in whatever I was doing. Whether it was during our voice/piano lessons, choir rehearsal, or our impromptu therapy sessions as a teenager — she was so much more than a teacher to me and more the grandmother I didn’t have growing up. A few years back, I reached out to thank her for encouraging me and her response was “you will always be in my heart”. As a music teacher myself now, I often think of Lesley in my teaching and how I approach lessons. Her use of imagery and subtext within poetry still inspires me today, when learning more complicated piano pieces she would say “you have to imagine and give yourself a storyline, otherwise where are you going to find your artistry and emotion? You have to feel it!”. I am so grateful to Lesley for introducing and exploring music with me, without her I literally would not be the person and musician I am today. My thoughts and condolences are with your family during this very sad time.
Sincerely,
Natalie Mitchell

Deepest sympathy on your loss. Lesley was such a fun lady. I knew her through the Church and I took piano lessons from her as an adult. I think I was her comic relief as we had many laughs together along with the lessons. May you all find relief and joy in the memories others shared with her.
