My Mother Madeline Al-Molky(Byrne) was the Daughter of Mark's Aunt Alice Babineau. Madeline maintained contact with her family throughout her life with trips home to Pictou every year to visit friends an her Town. I would drive her on visits when I was home "on leave" from the Air Force or after retirement. so she could feel the comfort of a place she called home. I met Mark on a couple of those visits because my Mum always dropped by whoever she still knew in Pictou. Her love of the old town instilled in me an appreciation of family and history.
Madeline passed away in 2012 one day after her 94th Birthday. Her memory for me always includes visions of her beloved Pictou.
I have added a photo of Madeline at her 90th Birthday, my self and my wife Frances who died in May 2021.

Mark was a longtime family friend. I really got to know him when I went to Pictou to take my training and lived with my Aunt Shirley and Uncle Ralph Power. We watched many Saturday night hockey in Canada together. I only wish I had him as a coach when I was playing hockey. A true legend and will be missed. Rest In Peace my friend.

Mark was a good, kind, softly spoken man. He always treated everyone in the same kindly manner. I never heard him say an unkind word; he never scoffed at anyone, meeting you on your own terms, making you feel understood and accepted - as though he had talked with you only yesterday, when you might not have seen him for a number of years…I had known hm both at the rink in my childhood and youth and at Herbie’s Theatre. He was a good, kind, softly spoken man.

Mark was great friends with my parents Flo & Ernie Jordan . Dad knew Mark because they lived across from each other . Hockey was always a hot topic with them . He taught Dad to drive in 1963 when Dad bought his first car . He bought it then as I was going in training & they wanted to be able to visit me . In later years you would find Mark sitting with Mom & Dad at Mass .When Dad was ill & unable to go to church , Mark would bring Communion to Dad every week & would visit Mom & Dad frequently . I picture Dad as a greeter in heaven & he would be there to greet Mark home & things would then turn to HOCKEY . My sincere condolences to the family ! RIP Mark

My deepest condolences to Mark's family and loved ones. Mark-Mark came into my life through my Aunt Shirley and Uncle Ralph Power and he was always a source of fun and laughter. One favourite memory is his recounting his brother's heroism and death in France during WWII. When he learned that I was travelling overseas, he asked me to see if I could find his grave. His smile and appreciation for the photo of his brother's grave in St. Bény sur Mer Cemetery will always warm my heart.
His kindness was a gift to many and he will be remembered with affection.

My sincere condolences to Mark's loved ones and family. We all looked up to his hockey prowess. He was definitely a legend around Pictou, but remained a modest man who always had time to chat. A "page has turned" in the town of Pictou for sure.

To Mark’s Family:
Mark was a genuine legend in Pictou for his hockey
accomplishments and even more so for his classy demeanour with everyone over the decades. That being said I am selfishly going to miss the many stories and adventures which sometimes included my father Herb…but Mark is a legend and right up there with the best. Did anyone wear a bow tie any better than Mark? You’ll be greatly missed. Barry Wisener.

To the Family of Mark:
I am saddened to learn of Mark's death. As a child I remember when he worked at the Theatre and we all thought he was so handsome. As an adult, I knew Mark as a very dear friend of my Aunt Shirley's and Uncle Ralph (Power) and spent many happy hours with them. A fond memory was when I would visit and it was the season for Smelts and Mark would cook up a huge batch for our enjoyment. He loved doing that and took great joy in sharing with all of us.
He often visited us for any family gathering at our cottage in Caribou River. He was truly a fine person and we will miss him and his jovial nature.

I am old enough to remember Mark playing in the 50's on the APC Maripacs. In later life I realized what a true Gentleman he was. The memories will go on forever.

So very sad to learn of Mark's passing. He was a true gentleman and an amazing athlete. I can vividly remember watching Mark play at the old Pictou rink. I will never forget seeing him cruise smoothly down the ice, deke out both defenseman and the goalie slide the puck into the net ,his hair perfect, not one strand out of place.
I was fortunate to become friends with him especially during his time working for the town and when he and Bob Langille coached the Maripacs. I so enjoyed hearing a bit about his amazing hockey career and leafing through his scrap book.
Farewell Mark, may you rest in the peace of our God.
