June Lorraine (Murphy) Rankin – 67, of Pictou, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. She was a daughter of the late Lester and Laura (Belleville) Murphy. She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Devin (Rebecca Martin) and Jaclyn (Chris Luostari); siblings, Jane (Gary) Muir, Betty Fraser MacDonald, Dale (Darlene), Margo (Malcolm Halliday), Laureen (Bob) MacDonald and Ron (Tanya); along with several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. June was predeceased by her loving husband, Ray “Raspy” Rankin, of 31 years; brothers, Jimmy and Frankie Murphy; and a baby girl, Raven, in infancy. June was kind-hearted with the most infectious smile and a giggle that would cheer anyone up. She volunteered with the local Food Bank, enjoyed finding a great deal at Wal-Mart and should have owned stocks in Tim Hortons. June loved morning coffee with the crew and evening tea with her sisters. She was an avid Danielle Steele reader and enjoyed puzzles, Sudoku, Lexicons and card games. Her favourite foods were lobster and pizza (with Pepsi!). June was an amazing Momma to her daughters, Devin and Jaclyn and adored her many fur babies over the years. She had a special place in her heart for tWitch from Ellen and would have wanted everyone to know that “you are what you eat” and “purple’s a fruit”. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Wednesday at McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. A service will take place at 11 AM on Thursday in the St. James Anglican Church, Pictou, with Rev. Darlene Jewers officiating, followed by the burial at Seaview Cemetery, Bayview. Afterwards, please join family and friends for a reception at the Pictou Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or the Pictou West Food Bank.
