My sincere condolences to the family and loved ones affected by the loss of Gerri. She was a wonderful friend since we first met at Dal Law School. We shared many travel adventures with two other close friends, also former classmates, over the years following our graduation in 1988, as well as visits with Gerri in Toronto and in Nova Scotia. Gerri was respected and admired by her colleagues and clients for her tireless advocacy on behalf of refugees and immigrants. She was an enthusiastic mentor to junior lawyers. Gerri could always be counted on for her frank opinions on issues ranging from politics to law, religion and current events. She had a great sense of humour and an appreciation of beauty which she loved to document with her camera. She is sadly missed.
