My condolences to the family. I remember "Crowie" well as that is the name I knew Evan Crowe by. He was a lifetime friend of my dad Bill Barnes. Dad just told me a story tonight which I've never heard before and I thought I would share. Robbie & George Tarasuck, your dad Crowie and my dad Bill Barnes hopped in a vehicle and headed for Sarnia, Ontario. Dad thinks it was the summer of 1945 or 1946. Robbie, George and Crowie got hired by Imperial Oil to go on the boats. Dad headed back on a bus to NS to finish Grade 12. Robbie ended up coming back and going into Accounting and George came back and joined the Army. I guess Crowie loved the ships and stayed with Imperial Oil. They bought the truck that they drove to Sarnia in from Robbie & George's older brother who worked for War Assets because the War had just ended. They grew up together and went to school together as children and remained lifelong friends. Dad said he talked to Crowie a few times a month up until a month ago and is very sorry to hear of his lifelong friend's passing

I spent a couple of years with Evan working at the asphalt plant at Imperial Oil as a young man I looked up to him as a mentor. Many a night shift after meal and a visit from the shift foreman his instructions were Barnett off to the scale to sleep to be awoken by a asphalt truck arriving for a load while he found his place in the locker room. My wife and I visited him at there place at silver sands Beach area sometime for a horse back ride. Everyone at the refinery thought well of him he was quite the character. Rest in Peace

Sending sincere condolences and sympathy to all of Evans family. I worked with Evan at the Imperial Oil Refinery. He was a very colorful and entertaining man. He was a master at telling stories of his adventures. There was never a dull moment when you were on shift with him. He could have wrote a book on his many escapades. Many fond memories.
