SIMPSON, Earle L. Pictou We are sad to inform you of Earle Leslie Simpson's sudden passing. He passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, at age 75, at the Maritime Oddfellows Home after a lengthy illness with Wagner’s Disease. While still in High School, he worked during the summer at the Provincial Park and then for Maritime Packers. From High School, he drove a truck for Irving, then signed up with Northumberland Ferries; where he rose up the ranks from Stewart, Deck Hand, Quarter Master, 1st. Mate, 2nd Mate, and finally Captain. Winter months were spent away on various ships to multiple countries, earning his sea time. At the end of his career, he was high up in the National Guild Union, as a representative. Earle was born on January 7, 1949, and raised by Hilda and Leslie Simpson, Mother Eleanor Starratt. He is survived by sisters, Twylla Fancy, Lynn DeVouge (John MacKay), and brother, Harold Starratt; nephew, Stewart Simpson (Cathy); nieces, Mary Morton (Steve), Donna (Perry); Barbie (Peter); stepdaughter, Wendy Huggins (Carl). Besides his wife Colleen, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Hilda and Leslie Simpson; mother, Eleanor Starratt (Linton); brothers, Lloyd Simpson (Sue), Donnie (Betty), and many other nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of the Odd Fellows Home for their exceptional care and comfort, till the end. Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday November 6 at the McLaren Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarty officiating. Burial will follow in Central Caribou Cemetery, Caribou. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Horizons Seniors Club or to the Odd Fellows Home.
