It is with great sadness we inform you of the passing of Catherine Carol Sutherland, beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother, passed away unexpectedly at home Oct 13, 2024 at the age of 75. Born March 30, 1949 in Pictou, Carol lived a calm and peaceful life. In her early carefree years Carol spent her time with friends and family. Providing childcare kept Carol employed until she married in 1980 where she happily stayed at home and spent her days as a supporting wife and raising 2 girls. Carol’s grandchildren were her greatest joy and was always happy to tell anyone who would listen. She leaves behind, her husband of 44 years Stuart; daughters, Janet (Robert Dempsey) and Kristie Sutherland; grandchildren, Dominique Sutherland, Brenna Dempsey and Kevan Cleary, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts; siblings, Billy (Betty Ann) Battist, Sandra (Laurie) Bowden, Bruce Battist, Clifford (Jeannie) Battist, Barbra (Peter) Richardson and Michael (Shelly) Battist; along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Gladys (Henderson) Battist. Visitation will be held 4-7PM Thursday, October 17th in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Service will be held 11AM Friday, October 18th in St. John's Anglican Church, River John. Burial will follow in Hamilton Cemetery, River John. Donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the SPCA or a charity of one's choice.
