MUSIC, Carol A. Caribou River Carol Ann Music -77, of Caribou River, Pictou County, passed away on September 18, 2024 after a brief illness. Carol was born to the late Vernon and Isabelle Rankin, March 9, 1947 and spent her early childhood on Pictou Island. Carol graduated from West Pictou High School in 1963 at the age of 16, after which she went on to a successful career with the federal government, retiring from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) in 2008 having won the federal achievement award for her outstanding work. In 1969, Carol married Zaim Music, they lived in Calgary, Alberta where they welcomed their only son, Mark in 1974 before returning to Bedford, NS. Carol was predeceased by her mother, Isabelle and father, Vernon. She is survived by her brother, Darell Rankin (Sheila); sister, Linda Tufts (Alan); her son, Mark (Janet); her beloved grandson, Seth; 7 nieces and nephews and 13 grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Carol loved her family and delighted in the company of her playful grandnieces and nephews. Carol was drawn back to Pictou, settling in Caribou River after her retirement. She was passionate about gardening, spending much of her time growing flowers and vegetables, on her property, overlooking the ocean. She took beautiful photos of the sun setting over the Northumberland Strait and enjoyed walking on the sandbar at low tide. Carol and Zaim discovered a passion for taking cruises after their retirement and when they weren’t enjoying their time at the cottage, they were sailing somewhere exotic. Visitation will take place in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou on Monday, September 23rd from 4pm to 6pm. Burial service will commence Tuesday, September 24th in the Seaview Cemetery at 11am, reception to follow at First Presbyterian Church Hall in Pictou.
