FOLEY, Margaret “Peggy” It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret “Peggy” Kathleen Foley (nee Henderson) of Pictou, NS on August 12, 2024. Born in Pictou on May 7, 1937, to her parents, the late Clarence and Catherine (Matheson) Henderson of Pictou, NS. Peggy married the love of her life Leo Andrew “Andy” Foley in 1959. She was a military wife who traveled extensively through Europe and across Canada. Including living in Churchill, Manitoba while working in a childcare facility within the Inuit community. Peggy and Andy relocated to Halifax for a few years and eventually back to Pictou in 1978 after Andy retired from the military. Peggy was a volunteer for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Caribou Fire Department for many years and provided childcare for many families in the area (most notably Katelyn and Nick). She always seemed to have a special connection with children who greatly enjoyed her patience, fun, and gentle caring presence. Peggy is well loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Andy, in 2017 after 58 years of marriage, whom she greatly missed each and every day. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her brothers, Clarence “Billy”, George, and John “Jackie” Henderson; and her sister, Ethel Sutherland (Henderson). As well as her brothers-in-law, William Sutherland, Robert “Bob” Johnstone, Gordon Berry; and her sister-in-law, Doris Henderson (Pellerine). Peggy is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Robert Glenn) and Rebecca (Paul Norman). The lights of her life, her grandchildren, Adrienne, Andrew (Renee), Avery and Alex Glenn, and Brianna and Kindra Foley. Peggy is also survived by her siblings, Jimmy (Ella) Henderson, Everett (Beth) Henderson, Allan (Anna) Henderson, Barbara Johnstone, Marion Berry, Allister (Mary Ann) Henderson, Helen Henderson; and sister-in-law, Linda Henderson; as well as many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at the transitional wing of the Aberdeen Hospital, to Dr. Lum, Dr. Mohammed and Dr. Kwasnick. Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 17th in Seaview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Transitional Wing, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
