It is with heavy hearts, we the family of Korean War Veteran Wilfred David Johnson of Pictou, announce his passing at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on April 4th, 2024. He was born in Caribou River, NS on February 14th,1930, the son of the late Alfred and Lillian (Falconer) Johnson. He served in the Royal Canadian Airforce as a paratrooper. His years as a city gardener in Vernon, B. C. reflect his passion for growing. He was predeceased by brothers, Willis, Allison, Roy, Bill, Alfie, Geordie, Donnie Neville and sisters, Katherine and Annie. He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years Jean Johnson. He is survived by his sister, Hazel Smith, Pictou, NS and James Feltmate, Niagara Falls, Ont. He had a love of travel which took him on many adventures, Arizona where he and Jean spent many winters together. His wandering heart took him to Spain, Hawaii, Thailand, and many other places. We would like to thank Terry for his friendship during Wilfred’s hospital stay. Also, the care offered by nephew Greg (Delores) and Alfie for their visits and care. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit in Pictou as Wilfred enjoyed his short stay. Family memorial will take place at a later date, where his ashes will be spread as he requested.
