HEMPHILL, Eric Martin

He resided in Snow Camp, NC until a brief stay in Hospital. He was born in Pictou, Nova Scotia on April 20, 1957 to Ralph and June Hemphill. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 44 years, Marilyn (Turple) Hemphill; sister, Linda MacCallum, Vermillion, AB; brothers, Bruce (Anita) Hemphill, Lyons Brook, NS; Douglas Hemphill, Calgary, AB; sister-in-law, Deanne Hemphill, Dartmouth, NS; step mother-in-law, Janet Turple, Scotsburn, NS; brothers-in-law, Vernon (Darlene) Turple Jr., Pictou, NS; Kevin Turple, Dartmouth, NS; Andrew (Jenna) Turple, Saskatoon, SK; sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Robert) Turple-Krummel, Snow Camp, NC; Holly (Ryan) Turple, New Glasgow, NS; also numerous nieces and nephews. Eric was predeceased by both his parents, Ralph and June Hemphill; his brother, Steven Hemphill; father-in-law, Vernon Turple Sr.: mother-in-law, Rhodena White; brothers-in-law, Sterling MacCallum and John Turple. Eric first started his career as a Red Seal Carpenter and spent many years building and renovating homes in Nova Scotia, California and North Carolina including their own home in Wake Forest, NC. Later in life his passion was to work with Airplanes, so he went back to school and graduated as an Aviation Mechanic. He retired in June 2022, excited to take his boat ‘Soup Bone’, and hit the ocean to fish every chance he could get out on the water. Sadly, his dreams were cut short. Even though his illness slowed him down, he always wore a smile and enjoyed life as much as possible. Eric always thought positive and seen the best in everyone. He was a kind person that always jumped to help anyone that needed it. You could find him often reading scripture and had a strong bond with his faith. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and his two fur babies Atticus ‘Atty’ and Miss Maggie Moo. Cremation has taken place, and a family burial will be at a future date in Seaview Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA or a donation of your choice.
