Obituary of Catherine Teiman

Catherine (Penny) Teiman Teiman, Bertha Gwendolyn Catherine (née MacIntyre) was born on February 26, 1933, in Biggar, Saskatchewan and passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023. At the time she was a resident of the Maritime Oddfellow’s Home in Pictou, Nova Scotia. Her parents were Herbert Lloyd MacIntyre (father) and Frances Millicent Herbert (mother). Penny, as she came to be known, had 5 siblings, George (Jeff), James (Jim), Theresa (Fern), Reginald (Reg) and Marie. She was predeceased by all of her siblings except for her eldest sister, Fern Grover, (British Columbia). Penny began her elementary education in Biggar, Saskatchewan completing her Secondary Education in Saskatoon where she resided until she met her husband, Edward David (Ted) Teiman. Penny worked as a secretary for the Commanding Officer of the Canadian Forces Air Base in Saskatoon and met Ted when he was stationed there. Ted fell in love with his Prairie bride immediately, proposed and they married in Saskatoon on October 10th, 1953. Soon after they began their married life in Winnipeg, Manitoba later moving to Middleton, Nova Scotia where they had two children Linda Diane (Lee), Timothy Christopher and later Catherine Frances Millicent in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Penny’s pride and joy were her family, however, her love and laughter also extended to include the many friends she made throughout her lifetime. During Penny’s married life she was a member of several social clubs participating or volunteering in different capacities. She was a member of the Lions Club, the Rotarians, served as the Secretary for Federal Superannuates National Association (FSNA) for several years and actively participated in community charity organizations including the United Way and the Heart and Lung Association. In earlier years in the community she enjoyed playing softball (The New Glasgow Rockettes) and bowling. Penny loved nature and animals, enjoyed long walks and was especially happy to “putter” in her yard tending to her flowers and garden. Later she worked at Zellers helping Ted put their children through university. Penny will be greatly missed by her friends and her family; Lee Esling (Gary), Tim Teiman and Cathy Teiman (Allan Bonvie), her six grandchildren; Heather, Ryan, Lauren, Christopher, Quentin and Justine and her four Great Granddaughters; Anya, Ava, Hunter and Kenzie. Penny only recently learned of another grandchild on the way due in February, 2024 and was looking forward to meeting the newest member of her family. Penny will be remembered by all for her unique wit, her genuine warmth and kindness, and her beautiful smile. Her positive outlook inspired all those around her. The family would like to extend sincerest thanks and appreciation for the care, kindness, empathy and consideration extended to Penny and her family by the staff of the Maritime Oddfellow’s Home. Penny’s husband, Ted, passed away November 10, 2018, and they will now rest together at the Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Cremation has taken place and internment and a graveside service for immediate family will take place at a future date as per her wishes.
