I was saddened to have just learned of Karen's passing from having read her obituary on McLaren's Web Site. Although it has been many, many years, decades actually, since I last saw her. I actually knew her from a very long time ago. Karen, Bert, and Brian had actually lived across the street from us in Truro. We lived at 40 James St., but I cannot remember their house number, perhaps 39 or 37???, but I do remember the house was a pale yellow colour. That was about 1963/64? Our paths crossed again not long after our family had moved to Pictou. They eventually moved there as well. I remember vividly her soft spoken voice. She was a most gracious, polite, patient, gentle and nurturing person. She will be missed. I extend my condolences to Bert and his family.

Dear Family,
In fond memory of sister, Karen, I think of how much our family home in Old Barns was endowed with Karen's fun- loving, sincere, sweet ways. She also could take things seriously as well. When as a youngster, she was asked why she was in such deep thought, her reply was, "I have to do all the worrying, because nobody else does."
In my married life, Leona and I enjoyed visiting Karen and Bert.. They always had lots of stories to tell. Karen, like my Mother, always served tea and baked goodies of which there was ample supply. Then she would bring out pictures, handwork etc. and more stories. All this was done in a humble, gracious, gentle way with a lot of little laughs. Leona and I wish that we had made
definite arrangements for more times to have had them come our way so our family could have known their Aunt Karen better.
We can't imagine that Karen ever had an enemy. Her compassionate and understanding heart was just too big for that to happen.
We give our Lord thanks for Karen's life - a life well lived for her dearly beloved husband, her family and friends, and for others.
Love,
Roy and Leona
