Obituary of Gerald Murray McCara

McCARA, G.M. ‘Hector’ Waterside We regret to announce the passing of Gerald Murray ‘Hector’ McCara, 89 of Waterside, Pictou County, on June 23, 2023. Hector passed away surrounded by his loved ones. After a difficult few months he is finally at rest. He was born December 6th, 1933 in Plainfield and spent most of his life there farming, later moving to Waterside where he continued welding. Needed something fixed or built Hector could do it. He worked 34 years with Trenton Car Works before retiring. He was predeceased by his parents, Foreman and Olive (Murray) McCara; brother, Everett McCara (Jean) and brother-in-law, Gordon Hawboldt. Surviving is his wife, Patricia (Downs); daughters, Ann McCara (Roxie) and Dayle Waddell (David); sister, Christine Hawboldt and several grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 11 AM Tuesday at Waterside Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Donations in Hectors memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice. He will be forever loved and remembered.
