RAMSAY, Fenton W.
Pictou/Riverton
Fenton Wallace Ramsay, 83, of Riverton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the Maritime Odd Fellows Home for Special Care, his cherished home for the past four years. Born on December 23, 1939, in Wellington, PEI, Fenton was a son of the late Hudson and Mary (MacDonald) Ramsay. Fenton is survived by his loving wife, Cecilia (Hubbard) Ramsay. Fenton dedicated most of his career to serving as a construction project manager at Michelin Tire in Granton. After retiring in 1995, he was recruited by Trenton Works, where he continued to contribute for many more years until his full retirement in 2001. Fenton and Cecilia shared countless adventures together, exploring the world by plane, car, boat, and RV. He took great pleasure in savoring delicious meals at exceptional restaurants. Fenton possessed a delightful sense of adventure and a quick wit, making every encounter memorable. Conversations with him would often extend for hours, covering his extensive collections of Fenton & Trenton glass and his profound knowledge of antiques. Family held immense importance in Fenton's life, and he took great pride in his grandchildren and their latest escapades. We will remember Fenton as a resilient and spirited individual who adored Cecilia, appreciated the tranquility of country living, and nurtured his beautifully maintained lawns, gardens, and vibrant flowers. When reminiscing about Fenton, the echoes of western novels and the melodies of his whistling to country music will linger. Fenton was affectionately called "Pa" by his family, as well as the staff and residents at the Maritime Odd Fellows Home, where he was considered a grandfather to all. Despite his health challenges, Fenton never complained and always responded with sharp wit and playful banter. In addition to his wife Cecilia, Fenton is survived by his children, Fawn (Sean Murphy) of Miscouche, PEI; John Ramsay of PEI; Laura MacDougall (Ken Martell) of Scotsburn, NS; Elana MacDougall (Chantale Beausoleil) of Trois Rivieres, PQ; his beloved grandchildren, Ryan & Connor Murphy of PEI; Rebecca, Tessa & Thomas Ramsay of PEI; Ainslie, Breagh & Mari Campbell of Scotsburn, NS; Zac MacDougall of Trois Rivieres, PQ; his siblings, Bonnie Sonier of Sudbury, ON; Hudson Junior Ramsay of Miramichi, NB; Karen (Micky Williams) of Scotsburn, NS; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Wayne Ramsay. The family would like to express special thanks to Fenton's extended family at the Maritime Odd Fellows Home, who provided exceptional care and created a loving environment. Fenton treasured his time there and formed strong bonds, particularly with Moe and his dear friend Jim. As per Fenton's wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 2 pm to 4 pm in the Parlour at the Maritime Odd Fellows Home. All are welcome to attend, share stories, memories, enjoy music, and savor one of Fenton's favorite sweet treats. A private family niche-side service will be conducted at a later date at the columbarium at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Pictou, N.S. Donations in Fenton's memory can be made to the Pictou County SPCA.
