Obituary of Donna Rose Connors

CONNORS, Donna R. Pictou Donna Rose (Pellerine) Connors - 63, of Pictou Nova Scotia, a devoted mother and beacon of resilience and optimism, passed away May 25, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Donna was born on June 14th, 1959, to William David Pellerine and Beatrice Jessie Amelia Shea in Pictou, Nova Scotia. She was one of six siblings, William “Bill” (Coreen) Pellerine of Pictou; Anita (Manton) Battist of Sunridge; Chris (Wendy) Kane of Calgary; Ann (Allan) Mason of Borneo; and Chris (Shelley) Simpson of Onslow Mountain. A significant influence on Donna's upbringing was her grandmother, Margaret J. Munro Shea, with whom she had a strong bond that left an indelible mark on her life. Donna's close relationship with her grandmother instilled in her the values of strength, resilience, and love for family. Donna was the proud mother of three sons, Timothy Angus Connors, married to Jessica, and father to Emilia, of Calgary, AB; Michael Gary Connors of St. John's, NFLD; and Hal Lloyd Roach, father to Aries, of Enfield, NS. Her sons and cherished grandchildren were the light of her life. A master hairstylist, Donna distinguished herself professionally, earning her certification with honors from the Nova Scotia Community College. She balanced her career with raising her sons. Beginning her career in a local salon, Donna later ran her own home-based salon before holding various positions in Pictou County's local businesses. Donna was a gifted craftswoman, known for her skill in crochet and creating beautiful handmade crafts, which she regularly sold at the local flea market. Her love for capturing moments of beauty and life was evident in her photography. Donna's creative spirit was also showcased every Halloween, a day she embraced with imaginative costuming. Donna's love for animals was profound, evident in her companionship with her dog, Chemo, named during her first fight with breast cancer, and her cat, Lily. Their presence brought joy and comfort into her life. Despite the challenge of battling cancer, Donna showcased tremendous courage and strength. She remained optimistic, inspiring all who knew her. Known for her wisdom and lighthearted humor, Donna enriched the lives of those around her. Despite her personal struggles, she consistently offered her support and understanding to others. A private graveside service for family will be held to honor Donna's memory. Donna's strength, spirit, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her memory will serve as a testament to a life lived with courage and love. In lieu of flowers donations in Donna’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
