Obituary of Peter Douglas Currie
With heavy hearts, the family of Peter Douglass Currie, 63 announce his sudden passing on Wednesday April 18th, 2018 at the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Pictou on October 14th, 1954 he was the son of the late Joseph and Hazel (LeBlanc) Currie and uncle to the late Bernard Joseph Currie. Peter was born into a very large and loving family which was always a sense of pride for him. He worked for Northumberland ferries for almost 40 years retiring in 2015. Peter was a lifelong Chicago Blackhawks fan and would never be far from his couch when the game was on. In his spare time you could find him down at the Pictou Warf fishing mackerel with his good friend Gary Jardine. He was a trivia enthusiast, loved music and always had a good book on the go, a passion he passed along to his daughters. His grand daughters were the love of his life and they will always remember him for making them laugh with his stories and corny jokes. Peter is survived by his daughters, Andrea, Pictou; Katie (Ryan), Halifax; granddaughters, Penny and Violet; siblings, Dan (Sheila), Pictou; Bernard (Marlene), Pictou; Fred (Wendy), Coldbrook; Alexis, High River, AB.; Paul (Marcella), Edmonton, AB; Andy (Mary), Pictou; Cathy, Spryfield; Beatrice, Halifax; Lorraine (Larry), Windsor; Nancy (Dan), Belgium; Bernadette, Calgary; Fraser, Lyons Brook; Peggy, New Glasgow; Scott (Nadine), Spryfield. Dad had his struggles in life but always thrived to be around family and friends. He loved making people laugh. Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 22nd 6-9pm at McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will be at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church on Monday, April 23rd at 11 am with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Donations may be made to the Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library.
