Francis Bernard Landry -77, passed away peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, NS after a brave battle with cancer. Francis was born in Dupuis Corner, New Brunswick to the late Charles and Justine Landry. The family moved to Pictou in 1950. Francis was a welder by trade at the Pictou Shipyard all his life until the early 2000’s. Francis was known as “Duplee” by all his friends. He could always be seen driving around town in his electric chair. Francis enjoyed fishing and watching sports. He enjoyed his regular drives out to different fishing holes with his son Colin. Francis leaves behind his son, Colin (Marie) Landry; grandchildren, Ryan and Nathan; several brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Francis was predeceased by his son, BJ and common law spouse, Thelma Rice. Thank you to the staff at the Aberdeen Emergency Department, 4th floor and Palliative care for their wonderful care of Francis during his short stay. Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 PM in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. A public graveside service will take place Tuesday at 11 AM at Stella Maris Cemetery with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Donations in Francis’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital.
