Hi, don't know if Jon ever mentioned to me to you, but Jon and I were great friends. I met Jon at McGill when he came to visit Jennifer. Jon and I hit it off pretty quickly and we had a blast. We ended up making a documentary about a male pornstar called "Troy Steel" and I played Troy and Jon directed the film. We got the video footage but unfortunately, I don't think Jon got around to editing it.
Another time, Jon came back to visit during an architecture project, that (again) was pretty wacky. I ended up covered in plaster, but the project went well, and Jon came up to me after and said he really appreciated the innovation and the fact that me and my team had done something different from any of the other students. Later that night, I kicked back at the house Jon was staying at, and he played some songs on the guitar that he was working on. It was one of many very special memories that I had of Jon.
I started to lose contact with him after I graduated, but we had another idea for Jon to build a whale camper and bring it to Time Square New York and sleep in a whale camper. We couldn't stop laughing at just the idea of it alone. Anyways, unforunately it didn't happen.
After that, my communications with him became more sporadic. The last time I spoke to him was just before I was about to move and live in India. He just thanked me for reaching out but it was mostly through messager.
I'm so sorry to hear about Jon's passing. Jon was so creative, and smart, and we used to get so excited just bouncing creative ideas off of each other. Jon shot from the hip, he said what he meant and meant what he said. I had so many good memories of him coming to visit Montreal, and us working on art projects or seeing movies. The best moments that I had with him were always just kicking back and making sense of life. Jon was a kindred spirit; at that time we were both in our 20's trying to make sense of the world, and the intense feelings that we experienced, and we often used to laugh at authority. We always used to have a great laugh as well. I remember when Jon told me the story of how him and his buddies stole a garbage bag of donuts from Tim Horton's and tried to finish them but were unable. After a week they grew sick of the donuts, and we were scared of being arrested for donut theft, so they threw the garbage bag of donuts into the river. The next day there was a news report that the local river had tons of donuts floating down it. Jon was the man!
We came from such different backgrounds but we had so much in common. I'm sad Jon is gone, but his friendship meant the world to me. I'll never forget our incredible memories, making art, trying to understand women, having a good laugh and just exploring life. I'll miss you Jon.

I have so many good memories of Jon - from messing around in Sunday school as little kids to jamming in high school, listening to music, playing pool in the basement, talking movies with him and Iain. We spent a lot of time laughing like idiots, he liked absurdity as much as I do. He was creative and kind and funny as hell.
