My condolences on the loss of Sylvia. So many great memories of her in her younger days along with all her siblings that made St. Andrews St. an exciting place to live as we all grew to adulthood! May she rest in peace and may God's continual comfort and strength be with all her loved ones.

A visit to the Chapman house was first order of business when you arrived in Pictou from away. Warm hugs and hot food were sure to be handed out, but my favourite thing by far was to hear Sylvia laugh along with Marcel who always knew how to share that with her. Made me feel right at home, my deepest condolences to all the family.

Our sincere condolences to Lisa, Jonny B. and all of Sylvia’s family. Although we only met your mom a few times, she certainly impressed us as the homemaker and hostess as described here. Treasure your storehouse of memories and we are truly sorry for your loss.

Dear Lisa ,Dawn and Michael I'm so sorry to here of your mom's passing, she was a person filled with joy , laughter and love that will be missed my anyone who had the privilege to know her. The first time I met your mom I was 14 , my first time off the island of Newfoundland, your mom invited me into your home with open arms and a radiant smile which I'll never forget . I'll always remember the wonderful food she cooked and myself and her making fudge in your kitchen. Many years later her and your dad came to visit me in Vancouver after a trip they took Hawaii, the love they felt for each other to me seemed to be something that seemed like magic, the same magic I witnessed when I visited you all so many years before. While they were here we took a stroll around the Grandville Island market and bought some halibut checks ( actually we bought all the halibut checks they had) and promptly went back to cook them, while your mom was sitting down enjoying a glass of wine myself and your dad started frying up the best feed of halibut checks I've ever eaten (if I remember properly your dad did the frying and I was the sous chef). The joy of they're company was a blessing that will remain with me always as I'm sure with anyone who knew them . My heartfelt condolences to you and your families on the loss mom and know that my love is with you all,David Stickland.

Dawn, Graham, Lisa, Michael & all your family, our hearts are saddened on hearing of the loss of your mom, our Aunt Sylvia. She was an incredible spirit filled with joy & love! We all remember mom & dad & Linda telling us stories of their times visiting Aunt Sylvia & Uncle Bill in Nova Scotia & also their adventurous & wonderful trips to Newfoundland. If they were still with us today, I’m sure they would have a few more to share! What a beautiful couple your mom & dad were & we know they are together again now. Aunt Sylvia was a bright light in the world & will be missed greatly by all who had the privilege of knowing her! Take good care of each other as you mourn the loss of your mom & celebrate the amazing life Aunt Sylvia lived! With love, Sheila Stickland, Sheri McConnell & Caitlin Harty.

Sending sincere sympathy to all of Sylvia's family. We were school friends at Stella Maris and later at Pictou Academy, as well as neighbours on St. Andrews St. Sylvia brought laughter and kindness with her everywhere she went and was so filled with positive energy. I last saw her at the time of Andre's wedding when she taught us how to make her famous chowder. We had such fun!
Remembering her in prayer.

Sincere sympathy to all of Sylvia’s family. During Sylvia’s Pictou Garden Club days her love of flowers and how to arrange them showed the Hemings gene was her gift. Cherish all her remarkable gifts of kindness and love of life.
