BARNARD, Jennie L.

Jennie Lena Barnard -95, of the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou passed away peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on April 11, 2022. Born in Trail, British Columbia, she was a daughter of the late George and Sophia (Brown) Johnson. She married David Barnard and they shared 67 wonderful years together with many trips in Canada and abroad. Jennie and David resided in Pictou where she worked at Hindi’s Clothing Store, volunteered for the Canadian Red Cross and the Pictou North Colchester Exhibition. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a member of the A.M.S., choir for 55 years, as well as the Ladies Group. She was also a member of Princess Rebekah Lodge #4, receiving her 75 year jewel last October, and was awarded the Declaration of Chivalry. She loved to tent, sing and travel, even going for short drives. She loved being on the go, and it was hard watching her body not cooperate. Jennie is survived by her brother, Earl, River John; sister, Annie Scott, New Glasgow; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, David; brothers, George and Gerald; sister, Lillian; nephew, David Johnson and brothers and sisters -in-law.
