BALL, Jean M.
Pictou
BALL, Jean Mary - age 74, passed away peacefully March 17, 2022 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Pictou on December 13, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Albert ‘Ab’ and Mary ‘Bella’ (Cormier) MacKinnon. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Bobby Ball and brother, Carl Mackinnon. She is survived by her son, Kelly (Barb), Alix AB; grandchildren, Shawn (Bryanna), Pictou; Bobbi Jean Clarissa (John) Gerrior, Fort McMurray, AB; brother, Allan (Leona) Mackinnon, Pictou; 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jean married Bobby in 1966. After buying their first home she opened a beauty parlor in it in 1970, after graduating as a master stylist and holding a licence for 50 years. They later moved to Waterside close to the beach that she loved. Jean decided to return back to high school at the age of 40, and graduated with honors, but she loved doing hair and returned to hair dressing at Ahead of Hair, Pictou. A Long time legion member, she took on the role of president of the ladies auxiliary for many years. She was an avid curler in her day, and never missed a match on the TV. She loved a good card game with all her wonderful friends or a Bingo night with her niece Brandi and lifelong friend Colleen. She always made great effort to camp for generations to bring happiness to all the children of her family. She did it to make memories for the kids. She supported her family in everything they did. You could always count on her to be in the audience cheering you on. Known for her humour and wit Jean had a huge personality with a heart twice as big. She missed Bobby dearly after his passing, and it gives the family great peace to know they are together again. The family would like to thank the nurses and Dr's on the 4th floor and palliative care unit at the Aberdeen Hospital. A family burial will take place at a later date. Donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the Pictou County S.P.C.A.
