Darrell and I wanted to send condolences to the family on the passing of Owen. He was such a lovely man. Darrell knew him well of course as a Pictou Islander and I have come to know him over the years, at the wharf ( telling stories, catching up on the fishing and the family , how is our son doing and what are his plans ) , at Sharon’s , at his new spot at Logan’s.
He was over checking Jason’s boat out - a few short weeks ago , October perhaps ! offering advice on the repair job. Such a loss.
Love and good memories will live on
Take care
Darrell and Sheila Rankin

To Owen's family.
It is a sad day to learn of Owen's passing. It was always an event to see him coming. I recall a winter spent building little sail boats for Jr. sailing in Ross's barn. Great stories and laughs there. When my son Jeff was suffering seasickness Owen offered a sure cure. It did not help the illness but it cured his gullibility. My admiration of Owen is the same I have for his parents & brothers. Solid Pictou Island stock. Enjoy your reward now.

Shaun,Mark,Cynthia,Kelly, Bill & Families:
My heartfelt condolences on the passing of my longtime friend & loyal colleague. Angie & Viola would have been so proud of how Owen contributed to his community over the years - having dragged him off Pictou Island in his younger days. So too should all his family members be proud of his many accomplishments. You will have many great memories of this gentle man who loved the fishery , the sea....... not to mention his many boats. Trust I can attend his future Memorial Service - he sure deserves a great send-off. A life well lived. Rest in Peace my old friend.

Very sorry to hear of Owen''s passing. He was certainly a gentleman, in the strictest sense of the word. Kind, caring and always made others comfortable in his presence. I had a visit with him last fall at Sharon's and he talked so fondly of his late wife Jean and of his family. He will have left you all with the fondest of memories, and hopefully they will be the source of some comfort during this difficult time.

Owen was a very kind man. The most loving Grampie to Emma. Loved my daughter as his own. He was my “ partner in crime” at the dinner table at Mark and Michelle’s. Penny would sit between him and I and we would sneak her food. I will give Penny extra bites for you. Rest easy Owen.
