MACDONALD, Barbara T.
Central Caribou
Barbara Theresa (Gillis) MacDonald- 67, of Three Brooks Road, Central Caribou, passed away at home on September 29, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Constance Gillis of Pictou. Barb had a contagious laugh that made others feel good around her. She had a strong sense of community she expressed in many ways including volunteering at the Pictou Food Bank and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Pictou. She helped several seniors in the Town of Pictou by volunteering to do their grocery shopping and errands for them when they couldn’t get out on their own. She worked at Sobeys as a cashier and kept her debit card in her pocket. When someone came through the till and didn't have the money to pay for their order, she would take out her card and pay for it herself to ensure they had food. She had a love for all animals and supported them by donating to Hope for Wildlife and other local charities. Barb was also one of the original team members and volunteers for the Pictou County Relay for Life and raised more than $150,000 for cancer research. Most importantly, Barb loved her family and friends, and they miss her. She is survived by husband, Greg; son, Trevor (Melinda); daughter, Stacy; sisters, Connie (Sherman) Campbell, Kathleen (Carlos) Salazar, Joan (Brian) Littleton; grandchildren, Michael, Bailey, Megan, Zachary, Dylan, Kalan, Nicholas; great-grandchildren, TJ and Logan. She was predeceased by her sister, Lynn Pierce. At Barb’s request, a private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in Barb’s memory can be made to the Breast Cancer Society or Hope for Wildlife.
