SLAUNWHITE, Dennis Lee - 72 of Pictou, passed away peacefully October 3, 2021 at his home surrounded by his two daughters, grandchildren and other beloved family members. Dennis was born to parents, Gerald Slaunwhite and Theresa (Hemmings) and was one of five children. He called Pictou home for almost his entire life and was the first of his siblings to have passed. Dennis was a devoted father to daughters, Lori (Sean), Leah (Francisco) and also survived by grandchildren, Matthew, Sydney, Emma and Owen; brothers, Gerald (Cheryl), Wayne (Barb), Harold (Audrey); sister, Gloria; and son-in-law, Justin. He was predeceased by sisters-in-law, Betty, Claire and Elsie. Summer holidays were the most coveted for Dennis and his family, one of the most anticipated times of year. With his children and grandchildren visiting every summer, some of the warmest memories were made on the back deck, playing guitars and riding the lawn tractor. Dennis took just as much pride in his lawn as he did at beating his opponents at Rummy 500. From hockey games, UFC, swim meets to recitals, he loved them all. Dennis also travelled faithfully to Toronto for almost four decades to celebrate birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Visitation will be held 4-6PM Wednesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Public graveside service will be held 1PM Thursday in Seaview Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. In lieu of flowers donation to the SPCA may be considered to honour Dennis love for his dogs. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
