My condolences to the family and friends of Don Murray. My early memories are of the kindness of Don and older brother Bill, who were always so kind to us, the other Murrays nearby on High street. Don would pull us along on a toboggan or sled and Bill gave us many photos of us playing in the snowbanks. It was nice to be able to see more of Don on the Pictou Academy Foundation Board. He was always a charming, modest gentleman, cheerful and kind, and very involved in his community. A good and generous man who will be missed.

To Sharon and all the Murray family, Colleen and I were saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. As you know, your Mom and I had a very special connection starting from my very first day on this earth. Whenever Grace and I met, there was a friendly smile and a big hug. I would look around and, sure enough, there was Don, a few feet behind with a nice smile and a gentle nod. He often reminded me of Prince Philip, hanging back just a little so his Queen could have her special moment,. but always the protector, not far behind. The great town of Pictou has lost one of their kindness, fair and true gentlemen. Donnie always had a smile and a kind word when we met,generally at the Post Office, where we would remember certain occasions at the Club which always generated much laughter of days past. I was saddened to learn of the recent passing of Mr. Murray, Donnie. I send my condolences to Jan, Gregg, Joan and Sharon. I have very few memories of Mr. Murray but those that I have I remember him as being a kind, caring, gentle and polite gentleman. Having read the obituary and Mr. Murray's many accolades it serves as a testament to his many years of "giving of himself". His unwavering dedication, devotion, and involvement benefitted the community/town and as such made Pictou a little bit better place to live.

There are no words that can express the love, joy and happiness that Don and Grace brought to all our lives. It was a pure joy to visit with them in church or in the grocery store whenever we met, their main concern was always…how are you dong? Young and old alike. Two off the best God Loving and personal caring people I have ever had the good fortune to know. I know both are singing in God’s Heavenly choir .
