JOHNSON, Joan Elaine - It is with great sadness the family of Joan Elaine (Hartling) Johnson, age 78, of Caribou River, announces her passing on August 10, 2021 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Trenton, Joan was the daughter of the late Corey and Marion (Gerrior) Hartling. Joan was predeceased by her brothers, Allister “Allan” Hartling, Charles “Chuck” Hartling; and mother-in-law, Evelyn MacNeil. She is survived by her husband, John “Jack” Johnson; children, Marjorie (Chris) O’Laney, Donnie (Ann) Muise, Daryl (Candy) Muise, Cherylin (Karl Sutton) Johnson; grandchildren, Kerri (Chris) MacAulay, Jason (Patrice) O’Laney, Tyler Francis-Muise and Danielle Gallant; great-grandchildren, Dawson, Josie, Lincoln, Finley and S’an Sulian; brothers, Corey (Judy) Hartling and Barry Hartling; several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Until her retirement, Joan was employed by the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Pictou. Joan had a sparkle in her eye and was always ready with her quick wit and sense of humor. Never knowing what she was about to say made for many great laughs and wonderful memories. Joan was an avid BINGO player who looked forward to “going out” for supper on Friday nights, playing cards with her best friends and listening to all of her favorite radio shows; especially the “Saturday Night Hoedown”. In her earlier years, Joan enjoyed travelling, going to bluegrass festivals, and spending time aboard the “Albie -N- I”. Per Joan’s request, there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A public graveside service will be held 2PM Sunday, August 29, 2021 in the Riverbank Cemetery, Toney Mills. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Joan’s memory to the Caribou River Community Hall, or a charity of your choice. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
