MacKENZIE, Donald A.
Scotsburn
It is with great sadness that the family announce the unexpected passing of Donald Alexander MacKenzie, age 78 on August 8, 2021 at home. Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late James & Hazel (Morrison) MacKenzie. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Adam); son, Kenny (Dawn); and beloved granddaughter, Teagan; sister, Elaine (John); and brothers, Bruce (Cathy), Raymond (Janet); as well as many nieces and nephews. Donald ran his own trucking business for 40 years. He was well respected and made many friends in the industry. Our father was the epitome of a good and faithful man. He was the best Dad you could ever ask for; he was our rock. His greatest joy in life was his granddaughter, Teagan, he loved her more than anything. It is not only us who grieve our father's passing, but the entire community. Donald helped so many neighbours, friends and family over the years from snowplowing to cutting grass. He was known for his weekly early morning arrival at Bethel Presbyterian Church to ensure the grounds were properly maintained to his exacting standards. Donald is also remembered for his strong faith. This faith helped him persevere through trying times, such as the loss of his daughter, Kelly; and wife, Heather. We believe Dad found solace in cutting the grass at the church. It was a place of peace where life and loss made sense. Now he is at peace. A private family service will be held in Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn, with a public graveside service to follow at 11 AM on Friday in Bethel Cemetery. Donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the Bethel Presbyterian Church.
