Obituary of Jason Alexander Thorne

Please share a memory of Jason to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
THORNE, Jason Alexander August 25, 1974 – July 19, 2021 It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our brother, Jason Thorne. Jason was the youngest child of the late Clarence and Irene (Doyle) Thorne, Pictou. He grew up tinkering in the shed beside his father so it was only natural that he developed his same inherent skills: welding, woodworking and music making. Jason was a Red Seal Journeyman Welder whose expertise gained him employment in countless work settings across Canada. However, Pictou County always called his heart back home to family and friends. He was passionate about sport fishing and Maritime music – especially the fiddle and accordion. He was always happiest when bringing his father’s old accordion to life with the strains of a Newfoundland tune. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald; and dearly loved brother-in-law, his namesake, Sandy Munroe. Left to mourn his passing are sisters, Darlene Munroe, Linda MacNeill, and Charlene Thorne; nephew, Nicholas (Sarah) Munroe; nieces, Candice Thorne (Brandon MacDonald); Tara MacNeill (Josh Penton), Ashley MacNeill and Crystal MacNeill; along with numerous relatives in Isles-de-la-Madeleine. A private family service will be held in the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Cemetery, Pictou with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. In memory of Jason, we ask that you advocate for improved access to support for Addictions and Mental Health. In lieu of this, you might also serve an act of kindness to someone in need – maybe just a cup of coffee in memory of a curly haired, boyish looking guy who left us too soon. He will wipe every tear from their eyes and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. Revelation 21:4
