MacKenzie, O. Ross
Pictou / Scotsburn
Ogden “Ross” MacKenzie, 71, of Pictou, formerly of Scotsburn, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9th. He spent his final days in the care of the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, and his family is incredibly thankful for the outstanding care he received there. Ross was the son of the late Newell and Kathleen MacKenzie. He spent his youth establishing his reputation as a hard-worker, tending to farm work for his family in the Scotsburn area. Ross went on to become an electrician and was a 50 year member of IBEW Local 625; though he retired from the trade, he was still eager to help-out friends when they needed his skill at hand. Even before his retirement, Ross could be found routinely cruising the roads of Scotsburn, Six Mile Brook and Pictou, catching up on happenings at Tim Horton’s between helping friends and family and tending to his responsibilities. He also loved his time playing cards on Friday nights. Ross was a loyal husband, the best father and the proudest grandfather. He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Donna (MacIsaac); his daughter, Melinda; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Devon; brother, Ian; and a number of cousins who felt fondly of him. Ross could not speak of his grandson, Gordon without lighting-up - being his grandfather was a role that brought him immense joy. Ross did a wonderful job providing for, and taking care of, his family. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the McLaren Funeral Home with a family-only service taking place Wednesday, October 14th, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating, followed by a graveside service at the Bethel Cemetery in Scotsburn at 2pm. Public are welcome to attend this outdoor service, with COVID-19 precautions in place. Family flowers only please, donations in Ross’ memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or a charity of your choice. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
