Obituary of Thomas Arthur Quann
It is with deep regret that the family of Tom Quann, age 80, of Pictou, announce that he passed away suddenly at home on January 18, 2018. Born in Pictou, he was the son of Thomas W. and Kathleen (Tat) (Galbraith) Quann. Tom was a 1955 graduate of Pictou Academy and went on to work at the Royal Bank in both Nova Scotia and Ontario, before returning to G.J. Hamilton’s in Pictou until its closure. In recent years, Tom kept busy making deliveries for two local pharmacies as well as working as a courier for the Pictou County Health Authority. Tom was an avid reader and especially enjoyed political and history books. Tom had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed many sports, playing basketball, golf and curling in his younger years and watching his grandchildren’s activities later in his life. Tom has been inducted into the Pictou County Sports Heritage Hall of Fame with the other members of the Pictou Dukes basketball team. Tom’s family was his pride and joy. Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patsy (Carroll); his son, Dave and his wife, Kim (Bray), Pictou; his daughter, Kathy and her husband, Garfield Burton, Sussex, NB; grand-children, Dylan, Jenna, Lindy, Lauren and Kai; great-grandchildren, Rilynn and Brantley; his sister, Peggy and her husband, Gordon English, Pictou; nieces, Nancy, Lynn, Heather and nephew, Robbie.
