Dear Betty & Family,
I'm so saddened to hear of Richard's sudden death.Over the years,I'd see your Mom, or one of you, get a Christmas letter or hear news via Brenda Cook, (Ernie's cousin & Bernice's friend.).It's hard to realize, Ernie(My/05), Budd & now Richard are gone, from those 4 young men invading your Family home, when Ernie was summer Pastor,?/69.
May you sense God's presence with you all, as you face this painful loss. Richard's Legacy of his Faith & your Family, will give you comfort, along with lots of hugs from those precious 8 grandchildren.(Email when you're in Halifax, if you'd like to meet up.)

We are so very sorry to hear of Rick's passing. He was such a large part of our memories of singing at First Baptist. Unfortunately, we will be unable to attend the funeral. We, and I hope you, are comforted by the thought of Rick being with our Lord now.

Betty and family,
We were shocked and saddened to hear the news of Rick's passing. We have many wonderful memories of playing music with Rick, having great conversations and of course seeing the pride he took in his family over the past 30 years. He loved talking about jazz, teaching drums and his other hobbies as well. He will be remembered as a loyal friend, dedicated family man and a passionate performer.

Dear Betty and family.
I am truly saddened at Richard’s passing. We had such a meaningful meeting this past summer and I was truly inspired, and always will be, by his Faith, spirit and confidence following his health issue. As late as December 4 in our email contact he was very positive. His pride for you and the grandchildren was so evident and he credited you all for his recovery in recounting his wonderful, event filled summer.
My most sincere condolences to you and your family. I hope that you can draw upon the strengths of those around you and continue in your Faith for support.

Dear Betty and family, and Alfred, Bernice, Roger and families:
I offer my sincere condolences to all of you who have lost a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a steadfastly loyal and present sibling, uncle and in-law. During my late teens and early twenties, I would travel with Joan and Alfred to Halifax, and we would sometimes stop en route for a visit with Richard, Betty and children. There was always a warm welcome, tea and something good to eat. The quality I remember most about Richard was his curiosity, his attentive nature to the people around him and the events unfolding in communities close and far from him. At Emily's wedding a few summers back, I remember reflecting on that attribute. He made the time and effort to have real conversations. He listened well, being genuinely interested in hearing the answers to the questions he posed. This is but one of Richard's qualities that I am sure you will miss for a long time. Again, I am so sorry for this sudden loss.

Our deepest condolences to Betty and all of Rick's family. Loved listening to Rick lay down the beats to so much great Jazz over the years. I remember our Dad, Ed say that he just loved playing bass along with Rick because they had become such a tight group over time. Loved being there to hear the in semi-reunion of LeJassband twice in 2013!
Rick was also a wonderful support to us when Dad passed. Such a caring and genuine man. We'll all miss him.

Dear Betty and family
We are shocked and saddened but the news of Ricks passing. Being out of touch we were unaware of his illness. We remember Rick fondly as the drummer and key part of the worship team. He is a friendly and kind man who will be missed by many until we all meet again in our real home. Hebrews 9:14-15 For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. 15 That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant.

Very sad to learn of Rick's passing. We connected only the last few years by way of our musical interests, yet mostly through ministry. I found our conversations most enjoyable, and he had a manner that made you slow down and enjoy each other, even for a few minutes. Sincere condolences to Betty, his family, and his faith family, for he will be dearly missed. Please take comfort in knowing that Rick would know where he would begin the new year, in a mansion with many rooms. His room was ready, and has a wonderful view with His Savior.
