I was very saddened to learn of Johns passing.He was a fine man and I really enjoyed our conversations when I visited him at the Vets Unit or when I took hI'm to appointments in New Glasgow or Halifax.
John kept a keen interest in all goings on in our community and would be quick to give me advice in my role as a town councillor.
His pride and joy was his son Bill and he would be sure to give me an update on Bills latest project or travels each time we met.
He also had a keen interest in keep in touch with "Jonny,s girls "y( including my sister) who worked at his store in the west end over the years.
John gave to his country and his community as a soldier, a businessman and a leading member of the Pictou Lions Club.
I will remember him with fondness as a fine gentleman who lived a long and successful life and has now received his reward . Rest in peace my friend.
