Obituary of Marguerite Lillian Redmond
REDMOND, Marguerite Lillian, age 86, of Pictou. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother on May 24, 2019 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with her family by her side. Born in Caribou River, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Mary (Bickers) MacKay. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pictou and a long time member of the Women’s Club. Mom’s life revolved around her family and home. She spent many years welcoming children into her home as a caregiver and was affectionally known as “Rite”. Of the many children she cared for, the final were her own two grandchildren “my boy” and “my girl”, her pride and joy. Mom enjoyed flowers, nature, reading, and loved to bake. Surviving are daughters, Donna, Mary Anne, Pictou; Glenda (Jamey Benoit), Tracadie; son, Gary (Shari), Pictou; grandchildren, Shae-Lyn, Riley; her only brother Jim (Beanie) MacKay; nephew, Jonathan MacKay; sister-in-law, Ruth Sandeson, Truro. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Donald; son, Walter; and sister, Catherine Anderson. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4, 6-8 PM at McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Service will be 2 PM Wednesday from First Presbyterian Church, Pictou, with Rev. Shelly Chandler officiating. Reception to follow the service in the church hall, with burial in Caribou River Upper Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Chemo Clinic. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
