Very sorry to hear of Alex's passing. I have fond memories of living next door, and remember watching Alex working with various pieces of equipment. In particular, I remember being fascinated with the belt driven wood saw that ran off his old grey tractor, although he wisely wouldn't let me near it. I can remember the yearly ritual that he performed in bringing in loads of eel-grass to bank around the foundation of the old house to stave off the winters chill. This helped mark the changing of the seasons for me as a child. To Robert, who I remember spent a lot of time practicing free throws in the basket ball hoop on the old barn, and Shirley, a favourite sitter to my sister and I, please know that your father is remembered as a gentle soul who always put a smile on my face whenever we happened to meet. It is people like him that you see when you look back over the course of your life and remember those that impacted yours. May peace be with you and your families.
