Obituary of Florence Lucy Jordan
Florence “Flo” L. Jordan (nee Brown), age 91, loving wife, mother and Grammy died peacefully at the Maritime I.O.O.F. Home in Pictou on Dec. 6, 2017. Flo was the beloved wife of the late Ernest A. Jordan. Flo is survived by her loving daughter, Jean Anne (Gary) Bishop; granddaughter, Heather Bishop(Robert) Amero; grandson, Jeff (Chantel) Bishop; and four great grandsons, Zachery & Alex Amero and Spencer & Mason Bishop. She is also survived by brother, Don Brown; and sister-in-law, June Brown. Born in Antigonish on Dec. 22, 1925, Flo was the second daughter of the late J. Roderick Brown and Josephine (Cochrane) Brown. Besides her husband and parents, Flo was predeceased by siblings and their spouses, Jean (Andy) Gunn, Rod (Jeanette) Brown, Laurie Brown, Joe (Catherine) Brown; and sister-in-law, Helen Brown. Flo was a faithful and devoted member of Stella Maris Church, Pictou. She was the longest serving member of the CWL, having served 69 years. Flo was active in the Girl Guides of Canada Association for many years as a Guider, a District Commissioner and a member of the Provincial Council. Flo was the recipient of the GG of Canada Gold “Thanks” Badge. She was also awarded the Royal Canadian Legion Diamond Jubilee Medal and was a volunteer in the Veterans Unit at the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital for several years. Flo had a great devotion to Ste. Therese, the Little Flower. Her funeral mass will be held at 11 AM Monday from Stella Maris Church in Pictou, with a reception to follow. Family flowers only please.
