Obituary of Roland Joseph Cormier
CORMIER, Roland Joseph – Went to be with the Lord December 8, 2018, beloved husband of Minnie for 63 years. Dad to, Danny (Terry), Pictou; Dorothy, Wisconsin, USA.; grampa to, Rachel, Halifax; Jeffrey, New Glasgow; Simone and Marielle, Wisconsin; treasured brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Marion Haliburton; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Rollies earthly life ended at Willow Lodge (Where he spent the last 2 ½ years) and where staff treated him with love and respect. Rollie started his work with his dad (Plastering Contractor), with his 2 brothers, Rheal (Nora) and Enoel (Pat), Moncton; later he was employed with Gulf and Shell oil, eventually had his own business Eastern Fuels in Antigonish. After moving to River John, he assisted and managed the Journeys End motels in New Glasgow and Truro. Rollie enjoyed having his own ice cream shop (Rollies Place) in River John. He loved people; his happy personality blessed him with many friends. He was a scout leader in Wellington and a Lions Club member in Antigonish. He loved camping and sailing with his family and also music and singing in all churches and community choirs. He had a strong faith in God. He was predeceased by his mom, Alberta LeBlanc; dad, Edward P. Cormier; sister, Noelline Gallant. Visitation will be held 12-2PM Tuesday until service time at 2PM in Salem United Church, River John with Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in Rollies memory may be made to the Pictou Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
