Obituary of Clifford Keith Taylor

Clifford ‘Keith’ Taylor - aged 90, passed away September 26, 2018 in the Northumberland Veterans Unit, Pictou, surrounded by his family. Born in Wittenburg, Nova Scotia on August 28, 1928, he was a son of the late Clifford Joseph Taylor and Jean MacLean Stewart. Surviving are children, Dana (Tom Parker), Clair, Michael (Raylene), Jo-Ann (Jim Turple), Cliff (Kara), Brian (Michelle); daughter-in-law, Claire; 15 grandchildren ; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Vivian), Dennis; sisters-in-law, Eunice (Ivan Jennings), Roberta (Ronald Bellefontaine); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan; son, Barry; sisters, Frances, Thelma, and Mildred; brothers, Stewart and Malcolm. Keith enlisted in the Army on June 1, 1948 and served with the Army Core of Engineers both at home and in the Korean War. He was discharged in 1956 with the rank of Sapper. After retiring from the service, Keith settled with his family in Brookvale, just outside of Middle Musquodoboit, and went to work for Annands Transfer driving a milk truck. He picked up cans of milk from farms in the Musquodoboit Valley and delivered them to Woodlawn Dairy in Dartmouth. Going from milk in cans to bulk milk trucks, Keith took a job with Scotsburn Dairy as their first bulk milk truck driver in 1967, and moved the family over to Scotsburn in 1968. He worked with Scotsburn Dairy for 20 years before his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Korea War Veterans Association and enjoyed travelling around with Joan to the meetings and different social events, but the biggest part of their life was spent with family. Keith and Joan spent most of their summers either travelling with, or visiting, their brothers, sisters and families from Yarmouth to Ontario, and they would all do the same. He was always surrounded by family. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM Monday, with service to follow at 2PM from the Pictou United Church, Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity will officiate.
